A most charming late 17th century oak pegged construction hanging livery cupboard/wardrobe. Rarely do these come up for sale. Two beautiful panelled doors open to reveal the original wooden hanging pegs inside. A sturdy metal hanging rail has been added in more recent times. The cupboard comes in two parts, making it easier to manoeuvre and transport. The character to this cupboard is absolutely wonderful, having a lovely rich antique oak colour and patina. The rear of the cupboard is also superb, showing the original timbers which are wonderfully thick and rustic, it stands on stile feet. The overall condition is very good and solid antique condition, with expected general signs of age and use. There are knocks and dings, and signs of historical woodworm here and there which is long gone. There a historic repair to a section of the very top of the cabinet, which has been lined underneath and its not noticeable from the outside as its out of view. Overall its very solid, sturdy and strong, being oak and made with olde methods of carpentry its lasted for hundreds of years gracing wonderful homes through the ages and developed a gorgeous rich colour and patina.
