Charming and rare antique English Queen Anne wooden doll c late 1700’s. The doll is in wonderful condition for her great age. She retains the original paint finish on her face Just look at those lovely pink cheeks! And it shows only a few minor flaws which is so very rare to find! She has black pupiless eyes and black dotted eyebrows. The doll’s body is also in wonderful condition. It is made of carved whitewashed wood with carved whitewashed articulated legs. The legs do look to be original to the doll (Although I cannot be absolutely positive of this) which is also a rare feature on these old English dolls. Her arms are made of leather. The doll wears what looks to be her original clothing which consists of a white cotton slip, pantaloons, fine cotton voile dress with delicate lace detailing at the neck and a lace edged swiss dot cap. The doll of course has some expected flaws. Her head has been repainted on the top half back. This repaint extends into a narrow band underneath her chin. Also please note that there is some missing outer paint to the wood on the back of her head, down each side of the neck, near the top of one arm and there is a very small superficial crack underneath the doll’s bottom lip. The clothing is in good structural condition with no holes or tears, but please note that they do have some age related soiling. Please see photos for further details. She measures 11 in height.
